A good plastic surgeon will require you to stay in South Florida a few days after surgery so that they can monitor you closely. It will be too soon for you to travel back home after surgery. Further, you will need to attend all post-operative appointments with your surgeon.
Many patients are simply looking for some extra privacy and support after surgery and Miami VIP Recovery Suites provides a relaxing, tranquil and welcoming environment to do so.

For our out-of-town patients, the logistics of post-surgery care can be tricky. There are accommodations to book, transportation to find, healthy meals to consume, support services to arrange, and much more.
With Miami VIP Recovery Suites packages, everything is taken care of including transportation to and from your surgery center, meals, supplies, and support services to make your experience as seamless as possible. Your transportation will include taking you to and from Miami VIP Recovery Suites to the surgical center on the day of surgery and your post-operative appointment.

- Make a travel shopping list: After surgery, you will need some sanitary items to help with recovery (your doctor give you a detailed list in advance prior to surgery). Most of these items can be picked up once you arrive in town, but we recommend purchasing as much as you can beforehand and packing it with you to save you an extra trip while you are recovering.
- Stay hydrated: Traveling disrupts your normal routine, which can lead to dehydration. It is important to be well hydrated before surgery to decrease the risk of dizziness and nausea after anesthesia. We recommend drinking at least 2 liters of water or Gatorade each day for at least 3 days before surgery. This will decrease inflammation after surgery and help with the recovery process.
- Prevent blood clots: Traveling and surgery both increase the risk of blood clots in your legs. The best way to prevent blood clots is to walk often. By walking, your calf secretes a hormone similar to heparin which can prevent blood clots. When you are not able to walk (airplane or car), pump your foot up and down like you are pushing on the gas pedal – this simulates walking and helps your body to prevent blood clots.
- Get your protein: Studies show that getting 100 grams of protein per day for 2 weeks before and after surgery can help decrease any surgery risks by up to 40%. Some easy travel-friendly snacks that are packed with protein include raw nuts, protein shakes and protein bars. You can even find chips with up to 25g of protein at some health food stores.
- Be flexible: Your procedure and recovery should be your top priority, so be sure to allow for plenty of time to rest and recover. We also recommend to always be prepared to stay at your surgery destination longer than you initially planned. This is where being flexible is important. You only want to do surgery once and you want to do it right!

Things To Remember
- A reputable plastic surgeon will not release you to a taxi or Uber after surgery. You will need someone to accompany you after surgery.
- A reputable plastic surgeon will recommend a COVID-19 test 7 days prior surgery.
- A reputable plastic surgeon will also require someone to be with you 24-48 hours after surgery. You will need someone to monitor and assist you.
- Remember, the patient is responsible for choosing a recovery house from many current available options. Miami VIP Recovery Suites encourages patients to research and choose a provider that will best serve their needs.
- Your surgical coordinator should be very welcoming and friendly. This is your first line of communication with your surgeon and he/she represents the company.
- If you are traveling alone, it is highly recommended that you stay at a recovery house.
- All recovery houses offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, shared transportation to appointments scheduled at the surgery center.
- Specific meal accommodations may have an additional charge in certain recovery homes.
- To better accommodate patients, Miami VIP Recovery Suites will accept companion bookings.
- If you are checking in to Miami VIP Recover Suites on the day of pre-op, please get in contact with us a few days prior to your arrival to share your flight information.
- If you are checking in to your recovery house the day of surgery, please let us know so that transportation to the surgical center will be arranged before and after surgery. This will ensure the smoothest transition possible.
- Have an extra garment and support socks/stockings. We can provide with advance notice and additional fees.
- Be sure to pack comfortable clothing such as sun dresses, moo-moos, etc. Tight fitting clothes will be uncomfortable to put on and/or wear during your recovery.
- Be sure to pack bedroom slippers (to be worn inside the facility) and comfortable outdoor walking shoes.
